Sinossi: New York, anni Trenta. Burt e Harold, un medico e un avvocato. I due sono legati dall’avere vissuto insieme gli orrori della Grande Guerra, lavorano in team e vengono ingaggiati dalla figlia del loro vecchio generale per indagare sulla sua morte. Ma le cose prendono una piega molto complicata e durante i loro sforzi per salvarsi da false accuse i due finiranno con il reincontrare Valerie, il terzo lato di un triangolo che si era composto anni prima ad Amsterdam. Recensione di Rossella Pozza: Lo spunto di “Amsterdam” deriva da una storia vera: nel 1933 ci fu effettivamente un tentativo di golpe a opera di un gruppo di facoltosi uomini d’affari noto come Business Plot, che avrebbe portato gli Stati Uniti ad allearsi con la Germania nazista (ogni riferimento all’assalto al Campidoglio da parte dei fan di Trump è puramente voluto?). il Cast è a dir poco stellare, a cominciare dai tre protagonisti, Christian Bale, Margot Robbie e John David Washington, cui fanno da comprimari di lusso Rami Malek, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert De Niro, Zoe Saldana, Chris Rock, Mike Myers e Michael Shannon e Taylor Swift. Il film è avvincente e convincente, ironico e divertente. Tocca temi alti e per nulla banali, come razzismo ed antirazzismo, fascismo e nazismo, classismo, cinismo, spregiudicatezza, rettitudine ed il contrario di essa. Ibrida i generi, passando con disinvoltura dalla commedia al noir, dalla spy-story al thriller, dalla sharada alla pochade. Da non perdere.
