Recensione di Rossella Pozza: Gran colpo per Alice nella Città e la Festa di Roma avere l’anteprima nazionale del nuovo straordinario film di Steven Spielberg, “The Fabelmans”. Il film, che ha vinto il Premio del Pubblico al Toronto International Film Festival, è scritto da Spielberg assieme al drammaturgo Premio Pulitzer Tony Kushner, storico collaboratore del regista, due volte candidato all’Oscar per le sceneggiature di “Lincoln” e “Munich”. I produttori sono la candidata all’Oscar Kristie Macosko Krieger, Spielberg e Kushner. “The Fabelmans” è interpretato dalla quattro volte candidata all’Oscar Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Gabriel LaBelle e dal candidato all’Oscar Judd Hirsch, con le musiche del premio Oscar John Williams, la fotografia del premio Oscar Janusz Kaminski e il montaggio dei premi Oscar Michael Kahn e Sarah Broshar. “The Fabelmans” è un film Amblin Entertainment, sarà distribuito in Italia da Leone Film Group in collaborazione con Rai Cinema e 01 Distribution. Da Spielberg ti aspetti sempre un capolavoro e capolavoro è. Un esempio di “cinema cinema” come non se ne vedevano da tempo. Uno dei più riusciti inni all’arte cinematografica degli ultimi decenni, al pari forse solo con “Hugo Cabret” di Martin Scorsese.  I 151 minuti di durata volano che non te ne accorgi. Il romanzo di formazione del protagonista, chiaro alter ego del regista, è appassionante e coinvolgente. Tutti i personaggi sono perfettamente tratteggiati. Gli attori sono alle loro migliori interpretazioni di sempre. Un film che non si può perdere.

Curiosità: il film si chiude con l’incontro fortuito e fulminante del giovanissimo aspirante regista con quello che all’epoca era il maggior regista di tutti i tempi, John Ford, che gli impartisce una lezione di cinema da urlo: “Ricordati ragazzo, se l’orizzonte è basso è interessante, se è alto è interessante, se è intermedio è di una noia mortale!”.
