Premio Ermanno Olmi

Ancora un mese di tempo per iscrivere il proprio lavoro al Premio Ermanno Olmi, promosso dal Comune di Bergamo per valorizzare i cortometraggi di giovani registi italiani e stranieri.

Il Premio, rivolto ad autori che non abbiano superato 30 anni di età, prevede 3 riconoscimenti in denaro (1.200 €, 600 €, 400 €) – messi a disposizione dall’Associazione Bergamo Film Meeting Onlus – e una menzione speciale all’opera più significativa inerente a una tematica indicata dall’Amministrazione comunale.

Al vincitore della menzione verrà assegnato un premio in denaro del valore di 300 € offerto da FIC – Federazione Italiana Cineforum. Per quest’anno l’Assessorato alla Cultura ha scelto come tema “l’Umiltà”, per i richiami evangelici e dostoevskiani, in contrapposizione alla smania sociale per il profitto, la sopraffazione e all’egoismo dilagante. Dal Vangelo di Matteo: «Beati gli umili perché a loro appartiene il Regno dei Cieli. Beati gli uomini miti e pacifici, perché a loro appartiene la terra». Citazioni che vanno lette laicamente, come d’altronde faceva Olmi. Umiltà ha in sé il senso della giustizia e del prendersi cura, degli altri, dell’ambiente, del lavoro. Umiltà vuol dire anche vivere nella complessità, accettare di far parte di qualcosa di più grande. Non essere padroni ma cercatori di senso.

Il termine massimo per inviare i film, a cui possono partecipare opere della durata massima di 15′, di finzione, documentarie o d’animazione prodotte nel 2024 e nel 2025, è fissato a domenica 12 ottobre 2025.

La proclamazione dei vincitori è prevista per martedì 2 dicembre 2025 presso la Sala dell’Orologio di Palazzo della Libertà a Bergamo, o in altro luogo ritenuto idoneo.

International Award for the Best Short Film under 30

Last month to submit your film to Ermanno Olmi Award, established by the Municipality of Bergamo with the purpose of promoting short films by young Italian and international directors.

Aiming to support young filmmakers under the age of 30, the award consists of 3 cash prizes (€ 1,200, € 600, and € 400) – made available by Bergamo Film Meeting Onlus – and a special mention awarded on a theme chosen by the municipal administration.

The winner of the mention will be awarded a cash prize worth € 300 offered by FIC – Federazione Italiana Cineforum.

For this year, the Culture Department has chosen as its theme “Humilty”, with its echoes from the Gospels and Dostoevsky, stands in stark contrast to the social obsession with profit, domination, and widespread selfishness. As the Gospel of Matthew says: «Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are the meek and peaceful, for they will inherit the earth». These words should be read in a secular light, just as Olmi did. Humility carries within it a deep sense of justice and care for others, for the environment, for work. It also means embracing complexity, accepting that we are part of something greater than ourselves. It means not being masters, but seekers of meaning.

The deadline for submissions (fiction, documentary or animation produced in 2024 and 2025), which must not exceed 15 minutes in length, is October 12th, 2025.

The winners’ announcement and award ceremony will be held on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, at the Sala dell’Orologio in Piazza della Libertà, Bergamo (or another suitable venue).
